Will there be grants available for startup service providers?
Yes, through the course of this four-year strategy targeted grant rounds will continue for third-party providers.
Will there be grants available for startups?
LaunchVic may partner with other departments and agencies to offer direct grants to founders in priority sectors. For current opportunities, visit launchvic.org/grants
What areas will you provide grants in?
Pre-accelerators, accelerators, investor education programs, angel networks, and early-stage VC funds.
What programs will remain?
LaunchVic’s highly successful 30X30 and CivVic Labs are set to continue.
What is new?
New initiatives focus on supporting Victorian universities to boost startup creation, along with a new founder program called Basecamp set to launch in February to help seed to Series A founders make their first executive hires.
Will the Alice Anderson and Hugh Victor McKay Fund continue?
LaunchVic will continue to operate and seek further funding for the Alice Anderson Fund (women) and Hugh Victor McKay Fund (agtech).
Will LaunchVic accept unsolicited proposals?
LaunchVic will accept submissions of unsolicited proposals, but only where they meet the LaunchVIc’s unsolicited proposal principles set out on our website. In particular, the proposal must not offer a program (such as an accelerator, pre-accelerator, angel network or VC Fund) that could be offered by another party.
What is a startup?
A startup is an innovative technology-based business that can scale rapidly and capture global markets.
Examples of technology-based businesses include: software and application development (Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, big data analytics, e-commerce or marketplaces, augmented or virtual reality, Software as a Service (SaaS)), hardware, advanced manufacturing, sensor technology, robotics, autonomous vehicles, quantum technology, deep tech, and genomics and life sciences (including biotech & medtech).
Once a startup has demonstrated accelerated growth sufficiently it becomes a scaleup.
