Emerging EnergyTech startups will put their ideas to the test in the next round of CivVic Labs, LaunchVic’s program bringing startup innovation to government challenges.

Ten startups will spend the next six weeks co-designing and testing their solutions in partnership with the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action supported by $15,000 funding.

At the end of the program, two startups will secure a further $35,000 in seed funding to continue to develop their solutions.

THE CHALLENGE

How might we improve energy consumption for Victorian households and businesses so they can better access reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy?

It’s an important time for EnergyTech innovation, with 70% of Australian energy suppliers actively engaged in implementing a digital transformation strategy to help achieve net-zero emissions.

LaunchVic CEO Dr Kate Cornick said CivVic Labs hopes to bring the next wave of ideas to market.

“Victoria is home to some of the brightest EnergyTech minds, and the upcoming CivVic program will harness their talent and develop progressive solutions to enable sustainable energy solutions,” she said.
